(3,240 posts)Attacker Justin Collison also had charges dropped (by the State Attorney's office) from shooting someone in 2007.

Could it be State Attorney Wolfinger again?
I'm no expert, but this doesn't sound like a "stand your ground" situation. Depends how bad the music was, maybe.
Deputies say Collison was at a party in the woods with roughly 50 people in Osteen when he pulled out a gun after an argument about music. They say he began firing his weapon into the air telling everyone to leave.
According to an arrest report, Collison then got into 23-year-old Brandon Hilliard's truck and began driving around the area. Collison and Hilliard came across a vehicle that had three male passengers inside and opened fire.
24-year-old Jon Regan, a passenger in the car, was struck by the gunfire. He was then driven to a Seminole County hospital. Regan survived the gunshot wound.
Based on court records, both Collison and Hilliard's felony charges were dropped. Eyewitness News is working to find out why both suspects were never prosecuted.

but I was referring to the 2007 Collison shooting incident.

Collison phoned his father, and his father called Raimondo. Lt. Collison did not ask for special treatment, Raimondo said.
Raimondo made the no-arrest decision after talking to watch commander Lt. Mike Taylor, who also was at the scene. Both men said that was because the man who was knocked out, Sherman Ware, did not give police a sworn statement.
After news of what had happened began to buzz around police headquarters, Raimondo told his officers at the next shift change meeting, "I'm not in the business of putting cops' kids in jail unless I absolutely have to," according to two officers at that meeting.
