So much of today simply seems to be a breakdown of human morality. I did not pay close attention to politics until the 2000 elections, so I didn't pay close attention. It is nice to read of a time in my life time where politicians acted on what was best for their country, not their party.

It would have been nice if Mitch and his cronies decided on Election Night 2008 that their number one priority was to restore America's economy and prosperity again, instead of devoting their political lives to making Obama a one term President. Think about that. We all just elected him and job one was to destroy Obama!

Issa, Mitch, et al, are simply predatory animals. Not particularly smart, noble or generous. Just mean and selfish and in servitude of our Oligarchs. Psychopaths always sleep good at night, even if they're in a position to wreak misery on millions.

What's especially irksome is that Dems tend to look the other way at malfeasance and Repubs try to wreck lives based on bullshit, and often succeed. - like Don Seigalmann.

However, there are some things in Bobby Kennedy's piece which I find alarming. I just read a few anecdotes about congressional leaders and even cabinet members quietly working around a demented president who viewed the world though the lenses of a Hollywood fantasy. Maybe the reason Reagan was so anxious to send in the Marines to fix any international crisis was that he thought a dead Marine would get up and break for lunch when somebody hollered "cut!"
