It looks like they take it so seriously, act with such passion, and turn out massive determined crowds. I can't explain the difference between there and here, but maybe things like sprawling suburbia, racism, fear, materialism, generalized dumbing down, and lack of close community ties have something to do with it. I'm also impressed at the size of their gatherings and the relatively small police foot print, and low number of arrests. They really seam to 'get it'.

In some ways, I'm envious. Then again, I'm reminded of the caution to "be careful what you ask for you may get it!"
