this is already on fire on social media and as we've seen with the Sandra Fluke treatment by rush, stuff doesn't die down on the weekend anymore.

Folks are already on their haunches over race issues with the treatment of Trayvon Martin's character in the aftermath of his murder; now the retired black Marine who was murdered by cops in his own home... now this. No, this ain't going to die down.

Are the reporters or big name bloggers that could lend any legitimacy to it.

Again, good luck with that.

But I don't see a point in focusing on the crazy stuff Santorum maybe almost sorta said, when there's a treasure trove of crazy stuff that he says that he actually meant to say.

I don't think it's a matter of focusing on the "crazy stuff Santorum maybe almost sorta said". I think it's a matter of focusing on the crazy bigoted stuff Santorum maybe almost sorta said and the crazy bigoted stuff he has said in the past.

Folks are talking about it. As well they should.

because the GOP has not declared a Primary winner. I'm sure you've noticed that Romney gets plenty of scrutiny around here.

Bigotry is an ongoing issue that is battled here on a daily basis. I'm not sure how shining the light on one prevents shining the light on another.

Multi-tasking. Yes We Can.

how do you think the Komen story got its legs? How do you think the Sandra Fluke story got its legs? It wasn't "big named bloggers"--it was an avalanche of tweets and facebook posts by ordinary people who are fed up with this fucking shit.

The days of only certain kinds of media being the arbiters of what is "news" are dead and gone. Get with the times or be left behind.

Far bigger stories than this.

The only thing so far that has made this story noteworthy is that Santorum's people responded.

Which is a total amateur move. You don't respond to things like this, because then you give them credence.

You seemed to be completely astonished why people found your responses "trollish"

My point was that when you are here a few days and become dismissive of a gaffe as serious Santorum's apparent verbalization of the "N" word then don't be surprised if people find it "trollish". You don't seem to be aware of such distinctions however.

he is hysterical, undisciplined, mean, wrong and a loose cannon. He doesn't know when to shut his damn mouth, which is why he is swallowing "neg" or "nig" before it gets all the way out of his effin' mouth.

he embodies everything that is wrong with this country. Yes, he did say it and caught himself saying it when he remembered there were cameras recording him.

Sanatoriums' "blah" explanation just did not make any sense, neither did the sentence that he stumbled through to transition from the "nig....uh" that he did verbalize. The really sad aspect of this is that half of the voting population will either ignore it or actually get some perverse enjoyment from it.
