5. If their studios were in California

their newscasters would find it hard to ignore global warming. Here in SoCal it's been one incredible heat wave after another in the last few weeks, with 70 mph winds. Yesterday the power was out for 30 minutes in the middle of the day when incredible winds knocked down the utility poles. And from what the weather reports are saying, that's just the prelude to the big one. Last night they were saying triple digit temps are on the way for this week and more gale force winds (and that was from the local Fox affiliate I tuned into last night, as I watched the news right after Cosmos).
