1. David needs to get a few fact straight

In the first shooting, Boyd was surrendering peacefully until some jackass lobbed a flash-bang grenade at him. That's what made it go south, a fool who didn't think he was moving fast enough when he first woke up. He was armed but with two knives, no threat to police from that distance. He also had no reason to think he'd be allowed to go peacefully once that idiot threw the grenade.

In the second, I know the official story but in this case, the woman was into a lot of pretty bad stuff. We'll have to wait for the investigation. One thing that changed is that there is no lapel cam footage like their was for Boyd, so the cops learned something. We don't know as yet if she had a gun or a smart phone.

And yeah, the cops here are as militarized as Officer Friendly everywhere. All that hardware is burning holes in their pockets, so they want to use it all the time. That's the problem with overkill and it's likely coming to a town near you.
