In the week that Jon Stewart went on vacation, the Republican primary took a backseat to the killing of Trayvon Martin, a story he seemed to much rather have ignored in lieu of a million Dick Cheney heart transplant jokes. And he tried with clips from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and a few homages to the greatest joke set-up ever. But he could not avoid the absurdity that resulted from cable news coverage of Martin, including last weeks hoodie madness, CNNs forensics work, and the return of the New Black Panthers.
It took a few Cheney heart jokes for Stewart to not just sit with an outraged frown facing the story of the killing of Trayvon Martin. But when he finally got around to a look at Floridas Stand Your Ground law, and CNNs ten-time loop of what may have been George Zimmerman uttering a racial slur which, of course, sounded not like words, but Dick Cheneys heart to Stewart he found a game to play with the cable news coverage, particular that of everyone wearing hoodies: Jedi or Sith Lord? No spoilers, but Roland Martin in a hoodie was a trick question.
