TYT: Why Did This CEO Ban Tipping In His Restaurant?

"The bill arrives at the end of your meal in a restaurant and you look to see how much you should tip -- 5 per cent? Ten per cent?

Not at Noodles & Co, an American fast-food restaurant serving noodles, sandwiches, salads and soups inspired by cuisines from around the globe.

Its chairman Kevin Reddy has introduced a no-tip rule at his eateries and says that the policy has been a success."

all there anyway? I worked at a Skippers from 79-81 and even though we had servers, it was enough like a regular fastfood place that most people never tipped. You placed your order at the counter but we brought the food to your table.

Nice gimmick anyway. "You don't need to tip at our restaraunt." People will think that's cool and probably not think that they wouldn't have anyway.

prominently displayed for customers to fill.

Dunkin Donuts is one, Starbucks is another. There was a Hardees in Virginia, we use to visit, that also had tip jars on their counter. I always wondered if the jars got many tips.

restaurants years ago? They had a no-tip policy, only hired minorities, and paid better than other places.

The staff is extraordinary, but the food was awful. I was taken aback when the staff said no tipping. I believe I forced them to take the tip by having to go to the manager who grudgingly allowed me to.

Noodles and Company had a design that sort of made tipping more difficult as it was. Many people probably wouldn't tip there so this is a good thing.

You order and get a number. Food is brought to you. You get your own drink. NO CHANCE to tip. It is a level slightly above fast food.
