Bill Maher NEW RULE: Win The Word Game, Win The Issue (UPDATED)

Last edited Sat Mar 22, 2014, 04:55 PM - Edit history (1)

The long 'final rule'...

p.s. Audio is not the greatest, but it is the only video I've been able to find so far.

p.s.s. Most likely there will be a copy of it IN THE MORNING, here: http://www.mediaite.com/

Extra copy of the above video, here: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/invade-the-sun-and-take-its-oil-maher-has-some-very-blunt-midterm-advice-for-dems/
======

Edited to add...

Below is the short beginning - the part below has only the short jokes that come before the 'long rule' that is above...

I scratch my head daily about this very subject. We deserve much better that what we're getting.

especially if they've been in govt a long time.

Their focus is inside their circle of politics and politicians,
understandably. But on that account they miss much of
the real world, the zooming youth-directed and created
technologies, the vast ocean of information about every
single thing you can think of.

Not that propaganda does not mean you are lying. Only that you are trying to influence opinion. "Nine out of ten dentists recommend flossing!" is propaganda, and it also happens that it might be true (I dunno, never seen a study.)

Republicans are masters of propaganda, both true and false. They can sell shit and have you thinking it's chocolate.

Sadly, the days where hte voting public has the free time (and education) to it down with hte daily broadsheet and a beer and discuss issues with their peers at the pub or god knows what is long past. Poeple bust ass, come home, flip on hte TV. Five minutes of soundbyte "content," five minutes of soundbyte "advertising," back and forth back nad forth.

Hate it all you like, it's the current reality and it's what Democrats need to work with, for now anyway.

Now some lucky few - the president for example - are skilled orators and can sweep you along just with the cadence and rhythm of what htey're saying. Obama speaks like a preacher, he can pick you up, carry you, and put you where he wants you by talking, and still inform you as fully as possible while doing so. On the other hand, Secretary Kerry is godawful at speaking this way. He's factual, but he's also flat and boring; here's a guy who could benefit from some sharp soundbytes and catchwords

Some day history may record just how much damage Frank Luntz has done to this country.
Luntz didn't even do anything new. Its been going on for a long long time.

Maybe we should learn a new rule.
Its not ideology, its soup.

Jesus could be honored in this way, for his important role
in teaching people to be kind to each other, and to be
our brothers' and sisters' keepers.

Jesuscare, or Jesus Coupons.

The rw would be confused.. they may believe it's
promoting the Lord's work, but will have to consult
Jesus' words and re-arrange their brains.

When Maher is not being an arrogant ass, he is brilliant
and eloquent.

This piece is perfect. I can't even find adequate words
to describe what he does here.
