Fantasy about the religious right's paranoia, "If we can't impose our religion on everyone, we are being persecuted!"

But first we need to round them up, throw them into FEMA concentration camps and water board Alex Jones, Art Pope, the Koch Roach Brothers, KKK Rove, GWB, Dickless Cheney and the rest of the Bush Crime Family.

(16,296 posts)what a mix. The religious right knows that it has about 10% of the US in its pocket for spending bucks at the movie so they come out with this crap. Where do they get the financing for this type of thing? I'd like to follow the money trail on this. I guess the reverse-mortgage thing isn't working out enough for Fred.

(492 posts)Let me see: this movie depicts the mindless uprising in the media and in street protests against Christians who wanted to open a conference and community center near the WTC ruins; the removal from airplanes of Christians because infidel passengers felt uncomfortable with their presence on the plane; the bullying and humiliating -- by non-Christians --of a Christian man attempting to pray in front of the White House; the attack on a Christian Congressman by a TV announcer who suggests a Christian Congressman -- as a Christian -- is quite possibly an ally of the enemies of the U.S.; the attempts by Christians to register to vote only to be met by protestors with bull horns calling them murderers who should be deported.
No, wait, those were Muslims who were the targets -- and they actually being persecuted by real "Christians."
I wish someone would do a counter-movie titled "Real Persecution, You Pious A-Holes!" -- is Roger Moore looking for a topic?

(17,301 posts)I never did figure out what this guy is bing persecuted for. Sleeping with an underage girl? But they implied he was set up for the sex and the murder. So what is he being persecuted for? It makes no sense at all.
Since when can't a rich white preacher water down the gospel for politics??? They do it every day. Jesus' ministry was with the poor and downtrodden yet the uber rich claim Jesus gave them their wealth because they are so holy. No where in the bible does Jesus say the rich and intolerant will inherit the earth.
So many lies all rolled up into one really bad movie.

(7,865 posts)Is the point of this to serve as a counter to actual sex scandals of Ted Haggard and the unending train of conservative fundamentalist nut jobs who do things worse than those they persecute?
Calling this film "persecuted" is such a sick frigging joke.

(58 posts)This ramping up of the religious right. The right is really trying hard to get their base angry. All of the religious right movies in the last few years are really pushing that violence war attack thy neighbor motif while trying to make it come off as self defense. Atlas Shrugged, Gibson's Christ movie, the left behind stuff and now this; they really are going all out. Some have been having trouble with the new Noah movie despite, I heard, there is some kind of battle scene.
However, when they finally come out with the people riding dinosaurs with saddles movie, I might go see it for the laughs.
