Secular Talk: The South Just Failed At Life (In 6 Charts)

there are lots of things to love about the South. It's clean and quiet. There's delicious food, good people and often amazing weather. But that's exactly why it makes us so sad to think about all the ways in which the region is struggling today...

The mess that was made of Reconstruction once Lincoln was dead was nearly 150 years ago. At some point, people have to stop blaming the past and look to the future and the south as a whole has never really done that. If they had, they'd stop electing politicians to piss off New Yorkers and elect the ones that can actually do them some good.

He's been carrying on about how Democrats have been punishing Southern states since the Civil War. I guess no one ever told him Southerners were the Democrats back then. The way some of them carry on, you'd think Sherman burned down Atlanta yesterday.

and people there lived and breathed every perceived and actual insult of that war every day, it was really weird. And when the centennial was over they didn't stop!

If the south ever wakes up and realizes how long it's been taking potshots at its own toes, it might be a part of the country to be really proud of. Right now, it's beautiful country and full of too many people who would rather stay poor and ignorant out of sheer spite against richer and better educated people who live in parts of the country that won that war.

I'm sorry that guy on MoJo is pig ignorant, but it's not your fault. It's his job to correct it.

We're the 5th most miserable state in the country and gov. Kasich won't be happy until we're #1. Go Buckeyes!

but not much diversity. One of the things I miss about Cleveland is the wide variety of cuisine that is only possible in a city with a diverse ethnic background.
