Al Gore called this the "unofficial anthem of the environmental movement" when Loggins performed it on Earth Day in 1995 at The National Mall in Washington, D.C. The song has become one of Kenny Loggins' signature tunes.
This was co-written by Loggins' then guitarist Guy Thomas, who got the idea when he was driving to Los Angeles and saw a toxic wastefill. He was reminded of the line from the movie Network: "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore," and he decided to take action, as he was upset about what was going on in the environment.
