(29,503 posts)I guess that's why even though I may not understand what the songs mean, or what the lyrics are aiming at, I frequently cry quite liberally when I hear his voice and hear his songs. I can't figure out if they are tears of joy, sadness, regret, what? But it's all very, very moving to me. A musical genius, IMHO.

(23,248 posts)he approved the fatwa against Salman Rushdie. I have no problem with him turning to Islam, but I cannot abide that one act of his. I won't listen to his music any more, and I trashed all his records that I had because of it.
P.S.: I wholeheartedly agree with your line from Col. Potter, MASH 4077th!! Thanx for posting it!)

(13,133 posts)To err is human, to forgive is divine.
(snip)Forgiveness is really a gift that you give to yourself. It has very little to do with the person who has hurt you. In fact, holding on to that hurt is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die! Doesnt make any sense, does it? Letting go of the hurt helps to build your self esteem because it demonstrates your willingness to move out of the victim role and take your own personal power back.(snip)
