My grandmother married when she was 15 and in a northern tier state and it was not uncommon in those days (1920's). We live in an entirely different culture today, not dependent on knowing how to can/preserve/cook foods from scratch, do laundry by hand, write letters, and make soaps at home. If he marries a girl who is 14 - 16, he can play daddy and maybe have 10 -15 years, in some cases much longer, where he can manipulate and control her. Some women never put up with being controlled, so it's pretty much a gamble for the insecure male.

It has the tweet from 2012 mentioning Mrs. Kay's "65th bday".

But the article states that they "started dating when Kay was just 14 and got married in 1966 when she was 16." That would put her birth year as 1950 (give or take a few months). He was born in 1946. Hence the 4 years difference in ages.
