He would argue that there is such a thing as a just war and I agree with him. Sometimes you either fight or die.
Since that time, however, I think we have gotten away from what we were fighting for, and it has became largely about the fight, the game. Not the cause.

(3,093 posts)The "justness" of a war is determined by two factors: whether you are collecting a portion of aforementioned profits, or are sufficiently influenced by the directly- or indirectly-presented arguments of those that do.

(1,648 posts)First, our "democracy" is all but gone.
Second, the MSM either lies or omits the truth about war.
Third, folks that attend a peace action don't see any change, so they are not future motivated.
Fourth, many many Americans are caught up in paying the basic bills to survive and can't afford to dream of a better world.
Fifth, the war mongers have huge chests of cash to stop any threat to their Military-Industrial Complex.
This being said, I still believe we have to stop war. I've been an activist since 1967 and am a veteran of the anti-Viet Nam war. We were successful then, but the Masters of War have worked hard for more than four decades to make sure this doesn't happen again. Their secret weapon is FEAR. With this weapon, the American public will give away their very Constitution, let alone the ability to resist war. So, the roe is steep and rocky. GodSpeed, David.

(84,711 posts)He's been writing about this constantly but it seems "war" isn't an issue for those of us on the left anymore. We are told we are out of Iraq and will be out of Afghanistan...yet we ignore Libya, Syria and Egypt along with Africa (huge Africom Military Base in in Italy) we use for operations. We are still at war with "terrorism" as a concept, that is endless.
