(57,204 posts)30% in the most heated of elections - 30%+/- of the country is extremely divided. If we were truly divided as a nation, voter turn out would still be .007% margin, but the numbers of voting would be at closer to 50% at least, right? Why do people not vote, when not voting works most of the time against them. How do we overcome this sense of defeat/cynicism?
Election polls are becoming marketing polls.

(145,554 posts)If the Tea Party candidate appeals this election to the state legislature, then the GOP members of the VA legis can ignore the election and elect the teabagger.
The blowback on republicans would be more useful than the AG slot.

(145,554 posts)The GOP seems to incapable of feeling shame and so I am not sure that they are worried about the blow back. I am hoping that people discussing this possibility will raise enough public awareness that the sane members of the VA GOP caucus will not risk the blow back

(26,757 posts)I'm not saying that they won't do it because they're worried about blowback... I'm saying that if they DO do it, I won't be that upset because I prefer the blowback. In the extreme it could even win back the legislature for us (and I care more about that than the AG slot).
