Millions of Texans may lose their right to vote

Former Marine Tim Thompson protested Tennessee's new Picture ID law on Super Tuesday by showing up at his precinct to vote, but refusing to show a picture ID. He left without voting, even though he has proper identification, saying he was protesting on behalf of the potentially millions of people who may lose their right to vote because they are unable to obtain the legally required IDs.

Texas' contested voter ID law could shave voter rolls
Records show millions may be rejected at polls if the legislation is approved
By Lise Olsen http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Texas-contested-voter-ID-law-could-shave-voter-3390155.php

The state's contested voter ID law could provoke widespread complications in the upcoming presidential elections, with as many as 18 percent of all registered voters across Texas apparently lacking state government-issued photo IDs to match their voter registration cards, according to records obtained by the Houston Chronicle.

Texas secretary of state officials did not find matching 2012 driver's licenses or state-issued photo IDs for 2.4 million of the state's 12.8 million registered voters, though all but about 800,000 of those voters supplied a valid identification number when they first registered to vote. The findings come from documents submitted by the state to the U.S. Department of Justice as part of an ongoing review of the new voter ID law.

WASHINGTON -- Taking a page from its past, the NAACP will go before a United Nations panel in Switzerland this week to argue that new voting laws approved by some U.S. states violate civil and human rights by suppressing the votes of minorities and others.

A delegation from the venerable civil rights organization will present its case in Geneva on Wednesday before the United Nations Human Rights Council, a body that normally addresses troubles in places such as Libya, Syria and the Ivory Coast.

The Geneva appearance is part of an NAACP strategy rooted in the 1940s and 1950s, when the group looked to the United Nations and the international community for support in its domestic battle for civil rights for blacks and against lynching. .....

because a few (extremely few) people voting illegally (who has been caught illegally and unethical scams from people voting - the GOPT), they will stop 18% of legal voters from their constitutional right.

As far at the GOPT are concerned the Constitution is just toilet paper, unless, of course, it is for a right wing cause.
