Will someone please tell me why Chris Matthews would say such a thing about Phil Donahue? The latter has always seemed a good liberal from what I've known about him. I know Chris Matthews can get kinda weird, too. Questioning someone's patriotism shouldn't be done lightly.

He whores for whatever cause is willing to pay the most. I really don't understand why he became a supporter for Democratic issues after spewing his Patriotic pro Bush's America BS during the buildup to the Iraq War. He really has no credibility. Phil Donohue is a much more patriotic American than Matthews could ever be. Matthews needs to beg the American people for forgiveness.
