During the Bush years, the religious right was front and center within the Republican Party, helping to dictate policy and guide the party. But today, they're operating behind the scenes, pulling the strings for major Republican politicians and fringe members of the Tea Party. Ring of Fire's Mike Papantonio speaks with author Frank Schaeffer about how the Religious Right is still holding the Republican Party -- and the American political system -- hostage.

should be listened to because he has truly walked the walk and seen up close the poisonous aura that pervades all these fundie/evangelical outfits.

It was heartening to hear that both he and Pappantonio feel their days are numbered. Our country will be much the better for it. Just let it happen soon, or at least in my lifetime.
