Being senile does not disqualify you from running if you are a republican in Texas

2. I've known Ralph for 36 years

Despite being a Repuke, he was always good to my mother and me. He was even her lawyer when she divorced my step-dad (even though I thought he could have done a better job than he did. But it was the 70s, and women really got screwed in divorce settlements in Texas). Nevertheless, the last time I talked with him, our conversation was so disjointed. He went from one topic to another in a moment's time. Ralph lost his wife some three or four years ago, and he really has lost a lot of his faculties since then.

I know, I'm making excuses for him. His politics are atrocious. But he is a close friend. And the moment he decides to not run again, he will die in a matter of days. Being a congressman is everything to him, and all he has left.

4. Frankly I don't care if that's all he has left. We need and deserve responsible congressmen and

women, not senile or demented ones. These people are making and voting on laws that affect 100% of our citizens. We need and deserve the very best.
