He is also one of the guys who was an inside man in the 2012 re-election campaign, maybe the top number-cruncher they had. At a meeting I attended in late July 2012, he told us not to panic when Romney came close to pulling even in the polls. He said he would tear his hair out so we wouldn't have to.

He's a very low-key guy, and VERY smart. Obama is lucky to have kept him all this time.
