Yes, these pipelines will bring gas into NYC from areas where fracking occurs, but there is no fracking going on, or planned to go on, in NYC. New York already has an extensive gas pipeline infrastructure. This merely expands on that, and is no more or less dangerous than the existing infrastructure.

. . . And what I am saying is that cities, including NYC, have relied upon a gas infrastructure for decades, with a very good safety record. It is hard to make the case that a new pipeline would represent substantially more risk than the existing, aging infrastructure -- and it may even pose less of a threat.
