(5,610 posts)to the public for really informing us of the greed that runs "our" government. Unfortunately, since the Fairness Doctrine was killed by Reagan, "news" programs can and do intentionally keep the public uninformed of the things that really matters.
Interestingly we have had democratic administrations since Reagan. The President appoints the head of the FCC and tells him what rules to enforce. (Presently Cruz has Obama's new FCC appointee "tabled" (held hostage).
Any President can tell his FCC appointees to enforce THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE, which forces news programs to be honest, inform the citizenry to the best of their ability and to allow the free exchange of differing viewpoints.
America had this "doctrine", this mandate to honestly inform and, by extension, educate our citizens, from the inception of the radio until Reagan had it discarded for propaganda purposes.
When you have an administration that does not reinstate this "no propaganda doctrine," it is proof that the President does not want an informed citizenry....so sad.

(15 posts)I am extremely terrified about my future in this country as a college freshman, because it seems we lack the courage to totally remove the ROOT cause of the problem. We talked about the problem; we sing about the problem and yet, capitalism remains a cannibalistic system.
