In 1984, President Reagan received an endorsement for his re-election from the Klan. The architects of the GOP Southern Strategy wasting no time disavowing it. The Republicans disavowed the Klan and trumpeted the disavowal as a virtue. The MSM, already in the tank for Reagan and, in fact, still in it, went along and made sure everybody knew the Reagan re-election campaign and the GOP had disavowed the endorsement of the Ku Klux Klan.
Not once in 1984 did I hear anyone ask what Reagan might have done to get the Klan's endorsement in first place.
