50 years ago Thursday: Cora Lacy Frederickson assaults Adlai Stevenson

The Lebanon Daily Times
LEBANON PA.
FRIDAY EVENING
OCTOBER 25, 1963
28 PAGES — SEVEN CENTS
ADLAI BASHED
Mrs. Cora Lacy Frederickson, 47, of Dallas, Tex., with her tongue slicking out, strikes U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Adlai Stevenson (partly hidden behind the sign) with a picket sigh Thursday in Dallas. It was a rough evening for Stevenson, who was heckled and booed during his speech in celebration of United Nations Week. As Stevenson was leaving the auditorium Mrs. Frederickson struck the Ambassador and two unidentified men spat in his face. The woman said it was an accident. She said she meant only to shove the sign in front of Stevenson's face but was pushed.

Editorial: We recommend Lupe Valdez for sheriff
Updated: 23 October 2012 04:15 PM
Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez had a rocky start after her first election in 2004. Conditions at the county jail went from bad to worse. Morale plummeted. The exact opposite is true today, due in large part to her hard work and tenacity. Valdez, 65, of Dallas has earned the sheriff’s title and, with it, this newspaper’s recommendation in the 2012 election ...

Of course, the desperate "good ole boys" down at the Legislature have once again unpacked their boxes of dirty tricks from the "good ole days," put a new coat of polish on all that stinking crap, and are hoping the public won't notice -- but more and more people are noticing:

For the tea party, it’s 21 percent/47 percent, the Republican Party is 24 percent/53 percent and Ted Cruz is 14 percent/28 percent ...

Houston Chronicle yanks Ted Cruz endorsement

... When we endorsed Ted Cruz in last November’s general election, we did so with many reservations and at least one specific recommendation – that he follow Hutchison’s example in his conduct as a senator. Obviously, he has not done so. Cruz has been part of the problem in specific situations where Hutchison would have been part of the solution ...
