High Density Vertical BioReactor

Tony Siress·Uploaded on Nov 23, 2008

The Holy Grail in the renewable energy sector has been to create a clean, green process which uses only light, water and air to create fuel. Valcent's HDVB algae-to-biofuel technology mass produces algae, vegetable oil which is suitable for refining into a cost-effective, non-polluting biodiesel. The algae derived fuel will be an energy efficient replacement for fossil fuels and can be used in any diesel powered vehicle or machinery. In addition, 90% by weight of the algae is captured carbon dioxide, which is "sequestered" by this process and so contributes significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gases. Valcent has commissioned the world's first commercial-scale bioreactor pilot project at its test facility in El Paso, Texas.

Gee, by producing cleaner fuel, we also sequester CO2...that's what I'm talking about! SCIENCE!! drynberg Oct 2013 #1

Yeah, Science...this may not solve all our Global Climate Change problems, but this HDVB algae-t-biofuel is a wonderful start...yes, even better than fracking or tar-sands refining. This needs to be seen by everyone, please post to your social sites. So, let's expand this HDVB now and start making a difference. By the way, if we follow the $$, who owes this process?

Mother Nature owns the process. The equipment design and improvements to the strains of algae in order to enhance the capturing of the energy can be anyone of a number of different approaches (and ''owners''), but will all follow basic scientific concepts (i.e. photosynthesis, lipid formation, etc.) so as to extract it.

These are a few sources I've found involved in it:

If the search for and development of alternative energy sources hadn't been suppressed by oil interests all this time, technology like this and many others would now be commonplace. Another example of an abundant and readily-available energy source, is geothermal. There's enough geothermal energy under our feet to power the entire world if we acted globally, instead of greedily and selfishly. And except for the equipment investment, it's all free energy.
