I loved nails and blocks and construction sites and fixing (or pretending to fix) my scooter when I was a child. I have the predecessor products (toybuilders we called them) to the Lego my kids played with as well as the early Lego.

I had a train. Still have it. That was 60 years ago. I also played with dolls -- a little.

Never mind. I am very feminine and heterosexual. I just love mechanical things. Always did. First nickel I got, my grandfather asked me what I wanted to buy. I said I wanted to go to the hardware store and buy nails.

I love this ad. I hope it won't be taken off as spam. Because it sends a good message to little girls everywhere. Be who you are.

girl drummers were still a big deal in the mid-70's. there were two of us...the first female drummers at our high school. we also inter grated the drum line of our community band. i rebelled against gender stereotypes as much as often as possible.
