Further, if the Jedi can't marry and/or reproduce, how is the force inherited and maintained? sarge43 Sep 2013 #11
Well, obviously the Jedi were no more celibate than the priesthood is. Warpy Sep 2013 #13

A very positive video. I was going to respond with a youtube link for Mr. Plinkett's review of The Phantom Menace, but that seems awfully negative, now.

than when it turned out that the force was detectable by a blood test.

A frigging blood test.

Biggest letdown ever. You didn't need all that discipline. You just needed the right kind of goodies in your blood and it is all inherited.

Phooey.

Continually taking the goodies out of the gene pool, not a great idea. Would run out of potential Jedi fairly quickly, no?

Also even if they could, women don't inherit daddy's mitochondria, so half the potential Jedi gone right there. That begs the question, why aren't there more women Jedi?

Do script writers ever fact check?

They just didn't marry the gal, left her holding the bag (and the baby).

Also, don't forget Leia also turned up with the right bloodwork and that there were female Jedi, although they were made up so they didn't look human.

And no, they don't check stuff that makes their brains hurt, like the niceties of genetics.

Avoid blatant Anachronism. For example, crude catapults are not reasonable delivery systems for giant balls of energy.
