5. the code is something like this:

When you pick the Share then Embed - if it allows for embedding, all you need is the link that looks like above.

If it doesn't allow for embedding, then SOL.

9. None of the YouTube videos that I've posted on DU have the word 'embed' in the URL

The problem with the first URL in the OP (before the edit) was that that URL was for the 'page' not the 'video'

That first URL had the words 'feature=player_detailpage) - that was the 'page' URL not the URL for the video

7. Click on the YouTube link in your OP, then...

... then on that page click where it says 'SHARE'

a URL will come up there in a box - that is the URL to copy and paste here at DU.
That one will embed automatically here.
