So, I guess the birther controversy rages on--even in the face of bigger news. When will they just stop bothering us with this nonsense? Spare us Frank Taken from this morning.

(9,350 posts)I thought American citizenship stemmed from a person's mother. I thought according to American law if one's mother was an American citizen that person was a natural born citizen regardless of where that person were born. I am not in any way accepting that President Obama was not born in America; I believe he was born in America. However, I am talking about the idea that since Obama's dad was Kenyan he was automatically a Kenyan citizen.
Since, this guy mentioned that President Obama was adopted is that the new Birther line? President Obama cannot be an American citizen because he was actually adopted in Kenya and neither his mother nor his father was American.
I understand some on DU do not like it, but I would have liked the host question the caller instead of just telling him the story had been debunked. What does this guy make of the birth notice in the Hawaiian paper(s)? Why would anyone try to pull such a scam over on the American people? Did President Obama decide he wanted to be President and upon discovering he was born in another country decide to run for President while lying about his place of birth? In that case, once again you have to deal with the birth announcement(s). Considering that President Obama was born in 1960, a time of racial oppression for black people, why would the family put a false birth announcement(s) in the local paper? What would make these people think that in a little more than 40 years this baby would be President? If they thought a black baby born in 1960 would be President why not just adopt an American born black baby? If this family wanted food stamps why not just adopt an American born black child? Once again, what would be the reason for this elaborate hoax?

This feature on C-span is one I really avoid - it's like crazy talk radio, only televised.
