TYT: Rush Limbaugh Losing Advertisers After Sandra Fluke 'Slut' Comments

Yesterday Rush doubled down on his slut comment: "If we're going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch."

Via The Huffington Post: "Several of Rush Limbaugh's advertisers announced Friday that they were pulling their commercials from his radio show in the wake of Limbaugh's incendiary comments about a female law student and contraception. After being bombarded on Twitter, mattress store Sleep Train said that it would no longer advertise during Limbaugh's top-rated show following days of outrage over Limbaugh's statements about Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown student who was denied a chance to speak at a Congressional hearing about birth control...".* Cenk Uygur and Ben Mankiewicz discuss on The Young Turks.

At the very end Cenk sums up the Republican position:

1. We hate contraception
2. We think any woman who's having sex outside of marriage is a slut
3. We'd like to watch it

Frankly they probably want there to be pretty drastic consequences for having sex while not being in a situation where you want a child.

These types simply don't approve of sex for fun. That is the bottom line.

The Puritans might have made Fluke wear a Scarlet Letter, but they would not have demanded that any woman have sex in front of them.

To me, that is truly sick.

That they've adopted H.L.Mencken's definition of puritanism:the haunting fear that someone, somewhere is having a good time.
If the whole Republican party has not then surely Lord Limpballs has. He'll just deny that to himself and to anyone who inquires, both of which are at the roots of his misery.

Just like welfare--government programs for themselves and theirs should be mandatory and generous, but nothing of the sort should be available to anyone else.

I remember being taught all that in school, at home and in books.

Are they honestly this ignorant or are they just playing to their audience?

saying Rush apparently thinks birth control pills are like Viagra—you have to take one each time you want to have sex. Then he said Rush was confusing BC pills with Oxycontin.

20. Update: Limbaugh says sorry for insults to student

That's the headline of a story in today's LA Times.

Limbaugh says sorry for insults to student

RICARDO LOPEZ

In a rare move for the conservative radio host, Rush Limbaugh apologized Saturday to the Georgetown University law school student he called a “slut” and a “prostitute” last week.

The apology, posted to his website, said he did not mean to make a “personal attack” against Sandra Fluke. The third-year law student had recently testified before Democrats in favor of President Obama’s new rule requiring employers to offer health insurance plans that cover birth control.

“My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir,” he wrote. “I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.”

Evidently Rush Limbaugh is running scared.

May his worst nightmares come true!

"She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex.”

“So the woman comes forth with this frankly hilarious claim that she’s having so much sex — and her buddies with her– that she can’t afford it and not one person says, did you ever think about maybe backing off the amount of sex that you have?”

I guess he stayed home the day they taught birth control in school.
