As Rush Limbaugh triples down on his slut-shaming of contraception advocate Sandra Fluke, Cenk takes a closer look at the right-winger’s radio show ratings, which are at best more miserable than the man himself.

“It’s not based on any real number,” Cenk says. “It is such a phony number!” His oft-quoted 20 million listeners numbers don’t hold up under scrutiny. Cenk says, “Don’t believe the hype. He’s just a big windbag.”

1. Cenk has a reason to want to believe this...

And certainly it'd be great if it was true. But sponsors aren't spending money on false #'s. Limpballs has been one of the highest rated shows for decades; us wishing otherwise isn't changing that.

3. Limbaugh hyped himself into wide distribution.

People listen to him because he is controversial. Then they get hooked on his negativity. There is no more negative personality in American media. He is the meanest, most negative. It brings his listeners down. They are fools to listen to that kind of ugliness.

4. Take a look at how radio ratings are determined

It's not scientific in the least. Sponsors ARE spending money on false numbers. Radio ratings are determined by questionnaires given to listeners about what they did over the past few weeks. You estimate the amount of time you listen to particular show. It's a joke. Always has been.

2. I've never thought Rush was paid for his ratings.

You don't get paid $28MM/year to sell flowers or beds or Quick Books. It's always been about spreading lies and misinformation through a network of devoted morons.
