(17,301 posts)a silly animal that passively follows the crowd.
As a hair sheep shepherd, I must say my sheep are not that passive nor do they follow quite as willingly as would make my life easier.
Sheep are a lot more intelligent than people give them credit for and a lot more willful.

(20,166 posts)makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part! You can't even passively take part! And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels
upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop! And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!

(86,795 posts)who this woman is, though it doesn't matter all that much. I hope this goes viral and people actually do speak up. Personally, I am not only sick of the ling, I'm tired of being ignored and elbowed into oblivion by the sheeple.
Thanks for posting this.

Where was she when the bushes were destroying America and authorizing torture?
Well I guess better late than never.

(1,262 posts)This was posted on my facebook feed. I listened. I don't agree with everything she says but as an American she has a voice. In this video she's articulate and I share her feelings in many ways. I wanted to post it here because she could be any of us.
Maybe we should only consider the voices of people whose interests and beliefs we approve of? That's basically just tribalism.

These days I don't blame people like this woman as much as I used to. For some reason I was born with a pretty good bullshit detector so I never fell for the conspiracy stuff. But like everyone, I've fallen for my share of lies too here and there along the way.
Basically though, I'm sick of the culture of lies and so are a lot of other people. I thought this was a great heartfelt rant. That's the point here, I think.

(951 posts)Where is her outrage for all the others?? She reads the Daily Caller. She seems to focus on O. And I don't agree about the conspiracy theorists. Too many anomalies connected to be merely chance.

The only effort involved here was I posted an impassioned v-log by a woman I never heard of but thought it was rather dramatic and heartfelt. She could have been an aunt or a neighbor. I saw it as a creative piece, not some kind of political dinner speech.
I don't usually get too involved in trying to convince people of anything these days. I just post comments, impressions, personal reactions and other representative tidbits of my awesome wisdom and humor. Nothing important, really.
Why not appreciate the video at least for its colorful provenance?

(1,262 posts)Don't you think America has been terribly dumbed down over the last couple of decades? I do.
Look at the clip of Mario Savio I posted above. You don't see average Americans stepping up and speaking thoughtfully and persuasively like that anymore.
She's having a conversation with the America in her head. That's obvious. I'm not insulted by it. Also, she hates the president. I don't. You don't.
But I have in the past.
WCLinolVir
(951 posts)I do and your post is one reason why. Just because we cull the statements out of context doesn't make them palatable. Talk about a play right out of disinformation land. Maybe that's why we are becoming so dumb.

(1,262 posts)The paranoia was only a few years old then. Hard to say how these things develop. Who knows what happened to this woman?
Infowars and Prison Planet were still largely subterranean embarrassments as opposed to the obnoxious mainstream disinfo distractions they've become. The racists were just beginning to become bold again and crawling out from under their rocks. Fundamentalism in America was still just a "wtf experience" for most of us. The banks had yet to strip us clean. A lot more of us still had decent wage jobs and all of us were still stunned by the 9/11 catastrophe, the neocon drumbeats of generational war and the roll out of the new surveillance state.
That was a long time ago. A lot has happened. This woman is now a war horse of fear and media folklore.
To be honest, I feel for her now that I know a little more about where she's coming from.

"Who knows what happened to this woman? "
Probably spent some time in a psyche ward. Was kicked out. Now lives in car and posts videos at free Wifi sites.
"That was a long time ago. A lot has happened. This woman is now a war horse of fear and media folklore. "
Puh-leeze! She reads the Daily Caller. And thinks it's news she can count on!! Two strikes against her.
"To be honest, I feel for her now that I know a little more about where she's coming from."
REALLY? Where is she coming from? What is her background? Have you done a psyche eval?

(383 posts)...to pass herself off as having some intelligence. Doesn't work for me. Couldn't get through the whole video. For the record, I'm not much on getting involved in Syria. I can voice my opposition without getting into name calling and painting the president as a dictator...or some such crap.
This is straight out of a newer and improved right wing playbook. Faux intellect at its worse.
