(2,529 posts)when we were training in Georgia. It was a strange coincidence that they both had a history of having been sexual assault victims. One insisted she needed to have absolute silence at night when she slept. She wanted to hear if anyone broke in so she could escape or defend herself. The other one wanted the TV on at ear blasting decibels. Too much quiet made her stay awake, unnerved by the slightest rustling and it gave her a sense of security that the TV drowned out furtive noises. I don't know if that meets the strict definition of obsessive compulsion, but they were obsessed with their behavior and compelled to do it or they'd be in acute distress.
