1. Yeah it is astounding how clueless the reporter is

I guess she passed the FoX "do you support our propaganda test".

The poor guy explains it over and over again and she still doesn't come even close to getting it.

4. She obviously had orders to browbeat her guest . . .

She obviously had orders to browbeat her guest with a series of inane comments from fundamentalist sources, and she had to get those chosen comments read on air no matter what her guest's responses were. After all, the fundamentalist's "Jesus" has nothing to do with history. One just believes what brother/preacher Billy Bob tells one to believe about "the Lord," and then we'll all have pie in the sky when we die.

The interviewer was not stupid or clueless. She had a job to do and she tried to do it, even though Azlan was countering all the crap she was trying to push.

2. Think I may check that book out of the library

I am far away from a religious scholar, but this book may be an interesting read. If nothing else, it will likely present logical arguments about the life and times of Jesus.

Fuck's sake woman, are you a journalist for an international news network, or are you a gossip columnist for the school paper?

7. It's bad enough that she didn't read the book

but it's obvious she didn't even do any research on Dr. Aslan, either. I was laughing in disbelief at her stupidity by the end of the interview--he put up with her shenanigans a lot more patiently and was a great deal more composed than most people would been, imo.

If I had a nickel for every post of mine that went unanswered that was followed by other posts of the same thing that got lots of responses, I would be able to pay for my stay here on DU.

12. I have probably had that happen too. Yours was posted a day later than the other one

so in this case, the other one has lots of recs and replies because it was posted significantly earlier than yours.

I was just being courteous in mentioning because in most forums people like to know if they've accidentally posted a link that has already been posted.

10. It is difficult to listen to the mouthpiece to talking points
Mon Jul 29, 2013, 01:49 PM
Jul 2013

The woman is not interviewing him and listening to his response to her critique.

It is obvious she has a list of items that she needs to get through in order for her to complete this inquisition of a scholar because of his religion not because of his scholarly work.

Idol question: why would an interviewer, presumably Christian interviewer, have a Muslim scholar on if she believes his work is heretical to her beliefs? Why not just stick your fingers in your ears and only talk to people who believe everything you say you believe.

13. How infuriating!

I've listened to this author on NPR as well as several interviews and he always talks about his faith and how he once was a Christain. This woman just can't get over the Muslim issue. I had a Chrisatin professor who taught Islam, and no one seemed offended.
