(2,606 posts)Fragmented habitat, open season on them now in the west (ESA protections removed), and a "recovery" that was at best 1% of historical population isn't "really good".
I really despise those sick cowards out west.

I know what you are talking about out West...They think killing will solve all their problems regardless is the science says otherwise.

(2,606 posts)Wyoming is still offering a bounty on dead wolves.
Their habitat is fragmented and genetic diversity will be a real problem. Recent studie have shown problems creeping into the population on Isle Royale, which has been used as a standard to set very low numbers for maintaining a "healthy, genetically diverse" population.
Restoring ESA protections is the only way. I really hope some organization will stand up and take on the beef industry on this one. This is the primary reason I won't eat beef and I'm waiting to find a group to throw my support behind that isn't going to back away from this fight.

(54,410 posts)Obama stated that he wanted a law to require utilities to obtain at least 15% of their energy from renewables. This may have gotten buried under all the other crap that gone down, but he said this as a mater of fact exactly one year ago today, and I don't think he said it on the spur of the moment, either.
