(37,161 posts)I've used it as my sig line for almost the entire time I've been on DU.
I have a thing about "convenient" redefinitions and deliberate muddling of terms..
Con: "Socialism was tried, and it failed. Capitalism won out"
JHB: "Yeah, except you're the guy who defines 'socialism' so broadly that it includes our economic policies through most of the Cold War. And when you carp about 'European socialism', you're not exactly referring to the Warsaw Pact, you're talking about 'the Free World'. Hell, we set up 'European socialism' after WW2 so that the Soviets couldn't get a toehold in the West. Stop pretending there's only one kind of capitalism."

(1,245 posts)Been in that particular throng, about 100 times or so ... after A's and Raider games, or concerts back in the day (Day On The Green, etc) ...
It can get pretty clogged after games (esp. close ones that go all the way down to the final play/out), yeah ... but it's not as bad as Beijing looks ... and I bet that mess in the video is going on every single weekday AM, for hours and hours, all year long.
The Team reports for training camp today, btw ... can't wait for Football to start again

(2,397 posts)But not during morning rush. I went to a district outside the metro area. I believe that is outside the metro area Beijing because near Tienamen Square its not that busy(going on memory), but still packed. Line 1 semed to be more congested of other trains I rode, and the oldest. I was near line 2. But managed to ride several others as I was trying to take of business for the month I was in Beijing. And yes, there are people who do shove you into the train if its packed. Amazing. I think as visitors, the locals tend to give us a little more help if there is this type of situation--namely the approiate time when to get off the f***ing train. But if you don't like crowds, this is a place to avoid. Line 1 was always packed.
