a nice quote from John Cusack

found it surfing facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/Capitalists

I voted for Obama twice, but I fear living in such totalitarian times we have today. My public education (1960-1972) really drummed it into my head that communist russia was bad and us freedom loving americans with our spiffy constitution stood on the moral high ground. I really liked my country because it was all about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

I think all elected officials should be prosecuted for breaking their oath to uphold defend and protect the constitution, because now they're treating it as nothing more than a goddamned piece of paper.

and switch to either McCain or Romney. (Or half-governor Palin or Rep Ayn Ryan)

There is something going on and it would be good for the President to explain why he needs (for example) to monitor everybody in the nation to monitor what can't be over hundreds of 'terrorists' in other countries.

If the President ran again there aren't any candidates I can think of I'd vote for over him. But I'd like to know why he seems to have backed off so on so many of his promises - promises a lot of us overwhelmingly voted over for him.

President and how. I am astounded how one issued they all seem to be. It kind of reminds me of how both Nixon and Reagan garnered Democrats and Evangelical Christians on knee jerk issues. When we all know we are much better of with President Obama than we would be under a "President" W, McCain, Palin, Romney, Ryan, ad nauseam. The bigger picture is: we are better off now than we were or would be under the other possible Presidents.

I think you, I, Cha and even John Cussack can agree with that.

but rudeness without context is not needed. I voted for Obama twice. The first time because I thought I saw some possibility in him but the second time I voted the lesser of the two evils. I don't appreciate voting for the lesser of the two evils and I have had to do that too many times. I would prefer to vote for someone who gave me confidence that s/he will do the right thing but that is not how it works in this country and it has not been that way forever in this country or it seems so. The corporations have too much power in this country and that includes the war profiteers.

I expect the comments like Cha made to be found in the Lounge. One of many reasons I don't go to the Lounge.

edit for clarity

11. I agree with you. There is a surfeit of rudeness without context or porportion on DU. But at least..

we all know what the rules are at the lounge. They are very clear and if one can't take the heat, stay out of the lounge. I go to the lounge and anything the happens there I do not take personally and I follow their rules. That allows me to listen to Cha and others and gain a richer background to develop my own opinions.

And when the Lounge PMO, I leave and cool out. BTW Rex, you are another DUer I look forward to reading.
