Which is a bit odd, since Christianity's main text, the N.T., has vast differences with the O.T. in that Jesus did not seek to compel obediance in this manner, but through love. Despite all additions or faults with the over all message the obvious part of love is that it is gives without forcing, without expecting anything in return, without condemning. It is freedom to think, chose, live.

It appears they intend to commodify human beings just as they were in the slave trade. Their objection to gays is similar. They do not reproduce, thus their sexual activity is called hedonistic and selfish by the right. They believe biology determines everything just as eugenicists do.
Yet claim women and gay rights are a plot to destroy the means of reproduction, thus 'liberal eugenics.' They love to bring in the Third Reich into every disussion and try to say that a rightwing authoritarian state equals the mixed social-democracy that Democrats in the USA promote.
They also claim abortion and gay rights are an assault on the white race and an attempt to stamp them out. They say it is part of a satanic version of Judaism. But don't kill the messenger. I have read their tripe and at times listened to it, seeking to understand as you appear to be asking this question. After a while, I learned all the dog whistles.
Rand Paul has used all his influence to stop abortion, birth control, gays being gay, taxes on the rich (who God likes better), stopping all non-Christians from practicing their faiths in the USA. He has met with leaders in Israel and is willing for us to go to war for them, which destroys his anti-war creds.
His attacks on women and gays deciding how to use their bodies, is not granting those persons freedom. His desire for a theocracy is an attack on freedom of the mind. So they scream thought control and political correctness, while advancing the most intimate form of thought control there has ever been.
This is why I give Libertarians no quarter. When they wax on about 'civil liberties' instead of civil and human rights, they are inhaling the same rarified air as Rand does. Because they can afford to argue these wonderful points of freedom and 'freedmen' who say the government exists to 'enslave' them with regulation, taxes and telling them they can't discriminate.
