Rep. King started to get into criticizing Obama, but when CNNs Fredricka Whitfield went for the Obama bashing question King responded by saying we are all Americans and weve got to support the president. (It was odd to hear a Republican using that line to defend a president that they have spent years demonizing as un-American.) Rep. King is an Islamophobic hardline right winger on terrorism, so it isnt like he is ever going to be praising Obama, but it speaks volumes about the media that the question was asked.
CNN was trying to make news by fueling the partisan divide. Whats interesting is that her question revealed the deep divide within the Republican Party. Kings response hints that the divides within the GOP go even deeper than could have been previously imagined.
King was right to dismiss the leading question about President Obama. The real story here is the Patriot Act, and how the use of private contractors to do intelligence work allowed someone like Edward Snowden to access to classified information. Without the Patriot Act, and the post-9/11 private intelligence industry boom, Edward Snowden would not have been able to do what he did.
It is deplorable, but expected that the media would try to blame Obama for the actions of Snowden. This was another example of more biased coverage from a supposedly liberal media that just cant hide its desire to exploit the ugly divides in our politics, and find a way to blame Obama.

(25,111 posts)you can't too much divide the three branches when it comes to the so called National Security huh? Well not yet. Effing with America with other countries that have no "creditability" with FREEDOM and civil rights is a no no.
Seeing that the GOPers per NYT said Pres O had no creditability echoed with the GOPers until they realized that by doing so would jeopardize the Patriotic Act and we all know why.
Vote what you believe, let them know that America did not sleep in mid-term election of 2014.

(6,785 posts)Peter King, the guy that supported actual honest to goodness terrorists (The IRA) and wanted to hold McCarthy type hearings on American Muslims to prosecute imaginary ones is, along with a war criminal, supporting the President.
President Obama might want to send the more loathsome Republicans a message asking them to stop helping him.

(6,891 posts)perfectly OK to fuck over the country so long as it's done for profit. Maybe that's because the powers that be empathize with greed but not principle.
