CLOSE RANGE - Storm Chasers Caught near OK Tornado Today

@BTSullivan91: Most insane video of my career.. I never ever want to be in this position again.. Strong tornado hits the team! http://t.co/sOPpuGA1ex

5/31/2013 CLOSE RANGE Union City, Oklahoma Tornado - INSANE Video

ByBrandon SullivanMay 31, 2013

Brett and Brandon got extremely close to a violent tornadic circulation that produced multiple tornadoes in very close range... The team was hit by inflow jet winds into the tornado and their vehicle received damage as a barn was completely destroyed. A hay bale came barreling across the road and was tossed into their car.. The team is very fortunate to live to chase another day... Incredible storm chaser traffic prevented an escape from the tornado like normal.. There have been fatalities with this tornado.. The team's thoughts go out to those affected!

That's the driver I want. He's like Scotty on the Enterprise. Just does his job while people around him panic.

But Cap'n! The dilithium crystals cano' take much more O' this abuse.

The force of those winds is terrifying.

Good video for teaching people why they must find shelter when a tornado is headed their way.
So good the driver and passengers escaped unharmed. What a miracle.

because the traffic they cause is insane and blocks both legitimate scientists and first responders.

Eventually a van load of one of them is going to run into something a little stronger than this one was and get a lot of them killed. Maybe then someone will realize what a bad idea tornado tourism is.

I was looking at the driver side window and it was crazy with debris flying around. They were blinded by science, which is not a bad thing since tornadoes are being better understood and the response time to citizens being alerted has increased.

Is there something about tornado chasing in the fine print?
