(11,175 posts)Amidst the right-wing agita about this horrific assault on traditional American values, I did a quick search on Free Republic and couldn't find anything. Their search function is a bit peculiar, though, so I might've missed it.
I'm sure many of them are on board with the general backlash, even if they didn't happen to post about it.
Searching for "commercial" I happened on a link to an Audi commercial featuring Zachary Quinto versus Leonard Nimoy. For any Trekkies/Trekkers who don't want to get there via FR, here you are:

(5,279 posts)When I read this I wondered why it hadn't played here. Watched the commercial on Huffy; did see it on TV before, didn't notice they were a mixed race couple until it was pointed out to me here.
As someone who lived in Selma Ala in 1967-69
As someone who has listened to the unguarded private discourse of non-minority members of the resident population (ya'know white folks)
As someone who has not only seen racial doors opening but blown off their damn hinges.
I HAVE TO SAY, WE ARE WINNING. We have a long road left, but pick'en up speed.

(3,688 posts)The only scandal are the false claims. I don't care what color anyone in this ad is; Cheerios are NOT heart healthy; they are cheap carbohydrate which just raise blood sugar. Any cholesterol reduction is insignificant. And the AHA is a Quack organization that doesn't do real science.

News flash - there are thousands of families that don't conform to the RW's white ideal. It doesn't get more racist than criticizing mixed-race families.
I liked the commercial. It took me a second viewing to figure out what may have bugged the right.

(15,741 posts)Packaging and Internet advertising for the toasted oats violate federal law with promises to lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer, according to a warning letter posted on the Food and Drug Administration's website yesterday. General Mills, ordered to fix the issues or risk product seizure, said it would try to resolve the letter with the regulator.
The FDA allows food companies to make nutritional claims backed by scientific studies, and restricts wording. Health claims have helped food and beverage makers boost sales as more consumers struggle with obesity. Food companies are testing the regulator's "relatively subjective view" of how much scientific proof is needed, said Christopher Shanahan, an analyst at Frost & Sullivan Inc. in Mountain View, Calif."
