Mid-terms are generally overlooked, and that;'s a big mistake. That's when Republicans win because turn out *in mid-terms is highest among, White, wealthier, and older Americans.

We Democrats need to change this destructive habit and vote in every election, even if there's only ONE race on the ballot - as was the case with us with the special election held on May 15, 2013.

Torres defeated Ontario Mayor Paul Leon, a Republican, in last Tuesday’s election 59.6 percent to 40.4 percent. Torres and Leon finished atop a six-person field in the March 12 special primary in the Pomona-to-San Bernardino district.

We voted for Norma Torres who won her State Senate seat- District 32nd, CA in the Special Election on May 15th, 2013.

But at the moment, Democrats are one vote short of their brief supermajority.

Torres' victory leaves Assembly Democrats one vote short of the two-thirds majority they reached in November's general election, which is necessary for them to raise taxes, pass emergency legislation, override gubernatorial vetoes and put constitutional amendments before voters without Republican cooperation.

But Democrats expect Chula Vista community organizer Lorena Gonzalez to win a May 21 special election in the 80th Assembly District in the San Diego area. She faces a fellow Democrat, businessman Steve Castaneda, also of Chula Vista.

That race will restore Democrats' supermajority in the Assembly just as lawmakers begin considering the budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1. Democrats already hold a two-thirds majority in the Senate.

Elections have consequences and we don't wan to lost our supermajority that keeps the State Republicans from filibustering tax hikes that are needed to bring CA back.

Anyone who uses the term "democrat party" should be reminded that they sound totally uneducated. I've found that asking them about how stupid I'd sound referring to the "republic party" does make them open their eyes, even if it's just a crack
