Papantonio: Are Americans Too Uninformed For Democracy?

The following interview is from the April 14th, 2013 episode of Ring of Fire on Free Speech TV (freespeech.org/ringoffire). The average American can’t name a single Supreme Court justice; they can’t pass a US citizenship test; and they’ve become more likely to believe in tinfoil hat conspiracy theories than in global climate change. All of this makes you wonder if Americans have become too stupid for democracy. Ring of Fire hosts Mike Papantonio and Sam Seder discuss how American citizens are painfully ignorant about the majority of issues that affect our day-to-day lives.

People are too lazy to care about what goes on in government.

The solution would be involving people in the process. Elections every 4 years is not involving people. Switzerland does a great job of involving people in decisions and they are very involved.

Many don't even know who their representatives are.

of the people are victims of arrested maturity level. Perhaps we are suffering from some type of environmental toxin that is rotting our brains.
