10. It's simply a novel motivation.

She did it because she really really wanted to inflict life long harm on this child in a way that would leave no visible mark or evidence. She's full of hatred and wanted to f*@K with this child's mind.

The horror of her and the charter school aside---notice how safe she feels about using this in her defense. She clearly thinks this excuse will be acceptable to the authorities.

It's a really terrifying story no matter which aspect you look at.
