And its not Catholic, but many of the belief systems are the same, sans Pope.

Most of my extended family are still ensconced deeply within their fundie beliefs. I just think many people need that assurance of some kind of outside, and loving, intelligence. So they go to a church to get reassurance and "fellowship" that they aren't the only one.

I'm a little envious because it is a community regardless. They help each other...deals on business...emotional support...etc.. But I just cannot take sitting down and listening to a preacher tell me how I'm supposed to worship some invisible entity who actually commands that we glorify Him, and if not he's going to burn us forever. I don't take kindly to threats.

I like Bill Maher and I understand he does not like religion but if he is going to dispute religion he should get his facts right.
