I forget a lot of the time that the massive majority of Americans can't name more than 3 or 4 politicians of ANY party or agenda and that so many are completely clueless about damn near everything.

If nothing else, this is proof positive that the PUBLIC airwaves need to be reclaim for the public and run as NON-PROFIT entities to disseminate the actual facts and news of the day, freed from political spin and / or ideological bent. I can hear the howls of "liberal bias" already, but what other answer is there really? These people all have a vote that counts exactly the same as mine or any other informed and active citizen...yet we allow the spending power of corporations and special interest groups to dominate our electoral process by pandering or terrorizing (or both) the masses of uninformed or misinformed voters.

That's not "free speech", unless you're referring to the lion's share of the wealth of the nation freely flowing to those who pay for the bread and circuses (but mainly poisonous bread and endless circuses) that mollify the mob. I just thought we had come a little further since the Roman Empire, but sadly I was as wrong about that as I was for actually giving a shit about staying current and informed for the benefit of making good decisions and informed votes.

People like me would not make good TV because we care enough to actually know what a sequester is, who it affects and why its a really dumb idea at all...and all that did for me was make me painfully aware of just how fucked we all really are...its 100% true, ignorance is bliss.

name 3 or 4 of the super-rich to whom the politicians report to.

Who actually controls this country? It is certainly not ordinary Americans.

Honestly....

sometimes I think these things are rigged, but the more I talk to people the more convinced I am that people really are that stupid.

That's why we're quietly letting the monied take over governing us. Give us our flat screens - our six packs and our spectacle sports an' we don' need no nuthin' else.
