I realize that this is a macho, testosterone driven sport. But surely the players union would be against it.

Gays are screened out; but if a college player has been suspected of committing heterosexual rape but the scandal was successfully covered up, this really isn't such a big deal (for example, Christian Peter, Ross Browner, Luther Bradley, etc.). The hypocrisy is astounding.
