(13,466 posts)Then you are most likely a hate group. Majorities don't need awareness, they aren't discriminated against, they aren't persecuted.

(1,770 posts)If there's a mother's day and a father's day, when is children's day? And the answer is EVERY day is children's day.
Well, EVERY day is hetero pride day. So yes, it's pretty much leaning in the hate direction.

In other words... if you want to be straight, be straight. Just do it behind closed doors.
And don't go around telling everybody about it.

(7,875 posts)-maybe by a shock DJ, or an "edgy" comedian, or just someone who really loves his porn could conceivably have started it intending it as a bit of whimsy- but it would be extremely naive to think that it wouldn't be completely overrun by haters within a matter of days.
Of course, the fact that it wasn't taken down when that happened suggests it wasn't meant to be a joke- I'm just playing devil's advocate for a moment...

(8,821 posts)Why do you even need such a group? It's like having a "White Caucus" in Congress (Congress already is a White Caucus).
Only about five percent of Americans follow a gay lifestyle. Heterosexuality is in no need of a special interest group to advocate for it. The only possible purpose for this group is to stigmatize the gay minority even more thoroughly than they already are stigmatized by our society.

(20,226 posts)Never mind the DU court of opinion - do you think there is anyone - anywhere who does not think that this is an anti-gay hate group?

(5,917 posts)and you cant prejudge it as a hate group until they do something hateful. at the time of my post that wasnt done the du court of popluar opinion just judged it that way. it can be pro-hetero without being gay-hating just like pro-gay doesnt mean anti-hetero.

(20,226 posts)No one has ever fretted over the thought that their families might disown them if they find out they are heterosexual. No one has ever lived their whole lives in repression, secrecy and self-loathing because they know that in spite of all their denials that deep down inside that no matter how much they have tried to cover it up - they know that they are heterosexual.
When I was a child growing up in western Pennsylvania only some decades ago a homosexual had a status in the world not much better than what a serial killer or child molester has today. The debate certainly never reached the level of whether or not it was okay to be gay. Everyone especially the secret gay person knew it was a terrible thing. The difference between the liberal position and the conservative position was that the liberal felt that the homosexual was sick and should be treated and perhaps locked up in a mental hospital. The conservative thought they were simply villains and criminals who should be locked up in prisons. This all dramatic change only occurred in my life time. The leftover effects are still very much around. No, I think it is more than just a little bit disingenuous to suggest that anyone talking about "heterosexual pride" and what have you are not suggesting something quite bigoted. No heterosexual has ever, ever, ever, ever, ever had to struggle with the issue of coming out - or feared its consequences.

(20,226 posts)majority and empowered position and uses language that attempts to claim victimization by a long persecuted minority is at the very least being completely disingenuous.

(8,821 posts)When isn't it "Heterosexual Awareness Day?" Without heterosexual exploitation our entire economy would fall apart in a week!
This group is utter nonsense. There is no need for it unless, of course, one wants to stigmatize the gay lifestyle.
