how does he do this? is he independently wealthy? He said he quit his job - does he work with any groups?

(86,636 posts)which means he probably has come from a well to do societal group... Brahmins originally were considered the spiritual class. those he cares for are Dalit or Sudras also known as "untouchables"... they are like the forgotten and street dwelling people in our country, or similar to what the Native Americans were considered to be by some when they put them on reservations.
This man has taken upon himself to buck the system and do what he feels is right. The original caste system in India was much different from what it has become and is today, parallels can be seen in our culture in many places.
Thanks for posting this, people need to see what is possible within themselves, if only... the world would be a better place even if we had a couple billion more of us on the planet. If only.

(802 posts)Though I worked my way off the streets, and feel lucky that at the time programs existed to help myself. There are so many veterans walking around filthy, starving, PTSD'd and neglected right here in the county that prides itself on it's high standard of living. I give what I can, when I can. This man's karma will repay himself in this kindness.
Americans of the "pretentious" sort disgust me. Many who were given so much, share so little, and don themselves in rich blessings they don't deserve. Repuglicans who cut, cut, cut yet eat from silver and gold have lessons to learn from this man and his sort. The churches who don't take care of the poor are the most ungodly, evil organizations that exist no matter how else they convince themselves.
I respect this man's efforts a million times more than all the Trumps, Koch's, and other pretentious rich folks who feel they are more deserving of what was handed to them. Yes they may have "built" their empires, but they didn't start out sleeping on buses and park benches like I did. With karma like they are building, though... they will. they will.

(1,648 posts)Even feed and love those among us who need it...yeah, that's the ticket. And the great part is you don't have to do it full time and quit your job or be a Brahman. But the important thing is to start at whatever you can do. And do it now.

(12,882 posts)Anyone who would render aid and kindness to them would be branded a dimwitted dupe by the Right! A Republican would verbally dress these societal castoffs as derserving of their fate. You could count on them (the Rethugs) to give a few encouraging nudges with the toes of their footwear along with the exhortation to "go get a job!". Never mind that there aren't any jobs to be had OR what menial jobs there might be - pay not enough to maintain one's dignity. This is what Compassionate CONservatism looks like - expending the time to berate someone for having winnowed out to the cellar of humanity.

(802 posts)Now, how to go about disseminating that message to the dimwitted dupes who feel they are doing the GODLY thing by voting for these creeps? There is where I've encountered the most stubbornly ignorant sort... PROUD of their ignorance in the name of their christian GOD!!! AAAAARGGH!!! Enlightened messages as those above get tuned out in favor of FOX news selling "American Exceptionalism". At least the encouraging nudges (as though a kick while down was helpful at all...) came with some support-- food stamps, pell grants and perkins loan-- which I had to fake a home address I didn't really have to receive, along with the kindness of strangers (wonder why they were all democrats?) was the only thing that bootstrapped me up off the streets.
Repug's are doing their worst to rid of ALL these support programs. They've become ten times as hard to come by as in my college days. Rent is damn near ten times what I paid when I did have a roof.
This is the sort of thing that makes me so damn mad at this sort. Their own superstar Jeezus would be ashamed of them. I'm ashamed of all of them, and especially fat f**k Limbaugh right now.
And oddest of all, the shortsightedness of corporate america trying to slice and dice their way to prosperity. CON men, all of them. Pretentious and Proud, without a single redeeming virtue.

(12,882 posts)Which if you think about it, is pretty incredible - since none of it is worth what it costs to print or stamp it out. It's a shell game where there really IS NO PEA! You're only rich so long as that silly fact is conveniently ignored. The stock markets and bamks of the world are ALL staffed by clones of Bernie Madoff! It's just that poor ol' Bernie was exposed. But the "Too big to fail" institutions - we daresn't call them out! If we did, we'd realize we're all busted.

And if you have other videos that should be added, you can join and add it, or just let me know and I'll do so.
I also created a Facebook page to CURATE GOOD, such as the good in this video, so if you're on FB and want to like it and suggest other stories you stumble upon, that would be great:
https://www.facebook.com/CurateGood
I'm doing the Curate Good FB page until I have more time to develop the Our Collective Good site more reliably. It's the same idea.
